Tarifa Location and Activities Information

Tarifa is a very special and dynamic place. This is where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean and Europe meets Africa. Tarifa is well known for it sports, wind surfing and kite surfing are the best known but rock climbing, horse riding, mountain biking, scuba diving and surfing are also choices.

Tarifa also offers whale and dolphin excursions, bird watching, a Moorish castle and 15km away in Bolonia are some extremely well preserved roman ruins.

If this is not enough a 35 minute jet ferry ride finds you in the port of Tangier in Morocco. Tangier has cleaned up its act. In fact the whole of morocco has changed its pace and style but for me Tangier is not so much a place to buy things, which of course you can, but to sense the continent behind it. Some of the old architecture is fantastic and the coffee shops superb for sitting back and soaking it all up. From the port a 2 hour taxi tour (kings palace, cape Spartan, Hercules' cave) will set you back about 40 euros but always haggle if only for the fun!

Tarifa has its own microclimate. This means that it's nearly always hot and sunny in summer. The other months it's a little more difficult to predict what will happen. But generally it is a very mild winter compared to northern Europe.

Casa Luna is also a great space for a yoga retreat, cookery courses, creative writing or any group activities especially in the non-summer period as its much more peaceful.
